Fitness Boot Camp Austin News

Let’s be clear about something…

Losing weight and getting in shape is hard work.

Most people know this. However, we all would like to believe that there has to be an easier way.

You know, take a magic pill, get all our fat sucked out through surgery, or find a guru trainer who can show us the “secret” to losing weight and being fit.

And, that’s the problem with the fitness industry today. There are people out there who are making millions and even billions of dollars selling consumers on the dream of easy fitness.

Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as “6-minute abs”.

And, you can’t “eat whatever you want and still lose weight”.

That’s all a load of B.S., sold to the public by people who know if they appeal to our deep desire to have our cake and eat it too, they’ll make a ton of money selling people on their latest fitness gimmick.

Well, gimmicks don’t result in weight loss. Hard work and consistency does.

Yes, it’s work. And yes, it takes commitment.

I know it’s hard to pass up that birthday cake at the office. I know it’s hard to get up early and show up for boot camp, or to come in and workout after a long day at work, while everyone else is at happy hour.

But, the truth is that the longer you put it off, the harder it will get to lose it and keep it off.

And, if you’re willing to put in the time, work, and effort, our method of fitness will get you results in the shortest amount of time possible.

Just show up for class 3-4 times a week, follow the simple nutrition suggestions, and stick with it for at least 90 days.

Do it, and in three months you’ll be amazed at what you’ve accomplished.

The only catch? Yes, it’s work.

But it’s sooooo worth it. :)

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter post-workout shake:

- 10 oz unsweetened almond milk

- 1 scoop high-quality egg white protein

- 1/2 ripe banana

- 1 tbsp Laura Scudder’s all-natural peanut butter

- 1 tsp Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder

- handful of ice cubes

Blend or mix well.

If you like your shakes thicker, back off the almond milk a little. I’d throw in a scoop of greens as well if I were using this for a meal replacement at breakfast, along with some ground flax. But, I wanted something tasty for after my workout today.

Enjoy! :)

Fighting Fit Boot Camp instructor certification

Forrest Caudill receiving his instructor certificate from Master Coach Jim Mahan. Coach Mahan is the Training Director for Fighting Fit and coaches athletes for the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Olympic Games.

Just a quick post to congratulate the new Fighting Fit coaches who completed the Fighting Fit Boot Camp Instructor Certification this past weekend.

The certification was held at Absolute Self-Defense and Fitness in Killeen, Texas.

Seven new coaches received their certification to teach and instruct the Fighting Fit Method, including our own Forrest Caudill (way to go, Forrest!)

The candidates completing the certification included:

  • Bianca Carrasco – Haslet, TX
  • Forrest Caudill – Austin, TX
  • Doug Dziuba – Canyon Lake, TX
  • Summer Leverett – Killeen, TX
  • Jesse Rand – Killeen, TX
  • Jennifer Shurley – Killeen, TX
  • Anthony Whetstine – Poway, CA

We’ve been training and certifying coaches to teach the Fighting Fit Method for over two years now. One of the best things about doing these classes is hearing the stories of our boot camp clients who choose to attend the certification to become coaches.

I was particularly impressed when I heard about Jennifer Shurley, one of our new coaches from Killeen. Jenn has been training at Absolute in Killeen for roughly a year, and has lost over 40 pounds. After the certificates were presented, she shared with me that a year ago she couldn’t do a single push-up. Now, she’s running 5k’s and 10k’s!

Congrats to Jenn and all our new coaches – we’re proud of you!

Just a quick note to let you know about scheduling this week and next week:
  • No Classes Friday – Friday is Good Friday, so there will be no classes in observance of Easter. Most of our clients said they are going out of town, so come in tonight to make up the early morning boot camp tomorrow.
  • Evening Classes Starting 15 Min. Later – I’ve noticed many clients have a hard time making the first class…. So starting Monday, we’re starting the evening classes 15 minutes later (boot camp @ 6 pm, kickboxing @ 6:45 pm) and cutting out the late boot camp so we can consolidate the evening workouts. See the schedule on the site for more details:http://fitnessbootcampaustin.com/class-schedule/
  • Fit Yoga Boot Camp Coming Soon! I know it’s on the schedule already, but Coach Cass is still working out the final details on the Fit Yoga Boot Camp curriculum. It’s coming VERY soon – I’ll email everyone when that class launches, mid-mornings at 9 am Mon/Wed/Fri.
  • Review us on Yelp and Google! – Have you liked the workouts so far? Please give us a positive review on Yelp and Google – we really appreciate it. :)
Thanks!

Welcome new Austin Boot Camp athlete Chris D!

Austin outdoor boot campMost Austin outdoor boot camp participants have to deal with bad weather cancellations… or worse, getting wet, cold, and miserable working out in the rain, snow (we actually do get some here), cold weather, etc.

The great thing about Fighting Fit Boot Camp of Austin is that we workout no matter the weather.

That’s because we’re a small group personal training studio as well as an indoor/outdoor fitness boot camp. So, when the weather gets bad, we just move things indoors.

For example, today it hailed and rained hard in North Austin. I already had a kettlebell workout planned, so we did kettlebells inside and then did some short runs since it let up before and after our strength workout.

Hey, if you don’t like bad weather but still like training outdoors on occasion, I’d love to have you join us some morning. Give me a call at 512-670-9333 to schedule a FREE boot camp workout on us!

Welcome new Fighting Fit Kickboxers Hannah C., Jess G., and Matt G.!

Welcome new Fighting Fit of Austin Boot Camp athletes Rod J., Molly K., and Jessica V.!

You are all doing awesome this week – so happy to have you with us here at Fighting Fit Boot Camp of Austin.

We all like to see and hear dramatic stories of weight loss.

Even I got sucked into the season finale of “The Biggest Loser” last season. I’m just as interested as the next person in seeing inspiring stories of people who have made massive life changes… potentially changing the course of their lives forever.

But is “reality T.V.” really reality for the rest of us?

The answer is, of course not. How many of us have access to full-time nutritionists, personal trainers, every fitness toy imaginable, and have our entire 24-hour day for weeks on end to devote to getting in shape?

Not many people reading this have access to those luxuries, I’m sure.

And because of that, when you’ve seen these stories on T.V. and then you don’t get the same rapid weight loss results in real life, you might become discouraged with your progress.

Has this happened to you? I know it’s happened to me in the past…

But then something incredible happened.

I stopped comparing my results with the results of other people, and just started exercising and eating right because I wanted to feel better. This in turn led to my making small changes in my exercise and eating habits, every single day.

Over time, these small daily changes compounded, and eventually they produced huge results (I lost 35 pounds and went from being sick and sedentary to active and feeling well again).

And, the program I followed at the time is what eventually became the Fighting Fit Boot Camp fitness and nutrition program – the same one we take our clients through in our boot camp classes.

Everyone who goes through the Fighting Fit Boot Camp program and who follows the nutrition suggestions gets results. You can read the testimonials from past Fighting Fit Boot Camp participants all over our site – those are all people who followed the program and got the results they wanted.

But the thing is, it starts with making small changes consistently over time. Eventually those small changes become major lifestyle improvements that will impact every single area of your life, from your work, to your relationships, to simply how good you feel, each and every day.

So, rather than trying to make a radical lifestyle change all at once, I invite you to try our approach by attending just two or three boot camp classes a few times a week. Then, get our nutrition guide and journal and start by making small changes to your eating habits over time, until you are following the entire program each week.

Before you know it, you’ll be waking up to a whole new you (and maybe even buying a new wardrobe to boot). Call us today at 512-670-9333 or fill out the form on the site to get started today. You’ll be glad you did!
