Fitness Boot Camp Austin News
So far the Fighting Fit 90 Day Body Transformation Challenge is going strong, with first week weigh-ins already showing that the nutrition program and regular Fighting Fit workouts work.
Clients have lost anywhere from one pound to six pounds in their first week of the challenge! And, we’re seeing our clients’ body fat percentages plummeting as well, meaning they are fundamentally changing the make-up of their bodies.
The 90 Day Challenge started on March 1st and will end May 29th. However, you don’t have to be in the 90 Day Challenge to get these results. All you need to do is commit to following the Basic Nutrition Program (outlined in our 30 day nutrition guide) and attend class just three days a week. That’s it!
So, if you’re not yet a member and would like to get your body in shape by summer, call 512-670-9333 to register for a FREE class today. We’ll get you started and make sure you’re on track to success in reaching your fitness goals.

And, the crazier thing is that several of our members (and our other coaches) have decided to do the challenge with her. Anyone is invited to do the challenge, and the rules are simple, just do 50 burpees a day for 50 days in addition to your regular workouts. I have a funny feeling those who do the challenge are going to be surprised by the changes in their bodies at the end of 50 days…
- IsaBody Challenge, Anyone? - I’ve been taking Isagenix products for over a year now, and I believe in them so strongly that they are now the only nutrition products we offer our clients. Tips for How to Flatten Your Stomach
There are numerous myths about how to flatten your stomach. Unfortunately, most of these myths are at best misleading, and at worst harmful enough to sabotage your efforts at flattening your stomach.
If you really want to get a flatter stomach, follow these tips and learn how to flatten your stomach the right way:
1. Localized fat reduction is a myth. Your body gains weight all over and loses it the same way. Forget about the miracle gadgets, potions, and pills advertised on television that promise instant results. Save your money and devote your energy to more sensible eating and regular exercise.
2. Do at least 30 minutes of intense exercise daily. Intense exercise is the best way to burn more calories. Aim for about 30 minutes of intense physical activity a day, such as doing one of our Austin Boot Camp and Kickboxing classes. Supplement that with lifestyle changes like using the stairs instead of the elevator.
3. Strengthen your upper body muscles. Building strong muscles in your shoulders, chest, and back will improve your posture and keep your abdomen from sticking out. Exercising with sand bags or kettlebells a few times each week will help with this.
4. Tone your stomach muscles. Spot exercises are effective, but only in combination with cardiovascular exercise and strength training. Crunches and leg lifts tighten and tone your stomach muscles, and you’ll get plenty of those in our Tuesday and Thursday Core and Cardio boot camps and in our Kickboxing classes!
5. Have fun. Make your exercise routine enjoyable so you’ll want to stick with it. Reward yourself when you make progress towards a slimmer waistline.
A Few Final Tips on How to Flatten Your Stomach
There are two approaches you can take to flatten your stomach; a slow and steady approach, or in a short focused effort. However, crash dieting is never a good idea when trying to get better abs. Never use crash dieting as a means of losing body fat. It’ll wreck your metabolism, and you’ll likely end up with more body fat than before once you stop your crash diet.
A flat stomach can work wonders on your health and appearance. Now that you know how to flatten your stomach, simply eat right and exercise daily, and you’ll be loving your new look in no time!
Flattening your tummy takes more than just doing crunches. While ab exercises may tone the muscles in your belly, how flat your tummy is really depends on how much belly fat you have… and that means you have to eat right to have a flat stomach.
Here are five simple eating tips for flattening your tummy that you can use to help you lose that stubborn belly fat:
1. Maintain a healthy body weight. It’s great to tone your stomach muscles, but they’ll remain hidden until you shed any fat that covers them. Remember, if you’re above your ideal weight you’ll need to burn more calories than you consume to lose those excess pounds.
2. Know your caloric needs. Multiply your body weight in pounds by 10 and that’s about the amount of calories you need to eat every day to maintain your current weight. To drop weight, you’ll want to either eat 300-500 fewer calories per day, or burn those calories off with intense daily exercise. A single Fighting Fit Boot Camp class burns about 500 calories, so exercise is a great option if you’re not good with counting calories.
3. Get plenty of fiber. A diet high in fiber will help prevent bloating, and fiber binds with fat so you’ll actually absorb less calories in your meals. Whole wheat and other grains also help you feel fuller faster, and most vegetables are low in calories. Start every lunch and dinner meal with a healthy salad – you’ll eat less calories and feel more full after your meal.
4. Cut down on sodium. Many people eat twice as much sodium as health experts recommend. Too much salt can lead to high blood pressure as well as bloating. The biggest culprit is processed food, so read those nutrition labels and prepare your own dishes from fresh ingredients. Drinking plenty of water also helps to lower your sodium levels.
5. Eat smaller meals. If lavish dinners make your belly bulge, try switching to smaller and more frequent meals. Eat 5 to 6 times a day every 3-4 hours. You’ll be less likely to get hungry and overindulge.
It’s not just the quantity of foods you eat, but also the quality of foods you eat that makes a difference in your weight loss. If you need help with getting on a healthy eating plan, speak with Coach Massie about starting the Fighting Fit Basic Nutrition Program.
And remember, that belly fat won’t burn off by itself. It takes a consistent diet and hard work to lose inches off your waist and thighs. So, be sure to show up for a Fighting Fit Boot Camp or Kickboxing class at least three times a week.
I hope these tips for flattening your tummy help you reach your fitness goals. See you at the next Fighting Fit Boot Camp or Kickboxing class!
How to Stop Winter Weight Gain Cold
Winter is almost on us and, along with flu season, comes the ever-dreaded winter weight gain. It’s all too easy to pack on the pounds during winter – if you’re not prepared and willing to be pro-active in preventing it!
After all, we’re likely to spend most of our time indoors during the colder months, taking part in sedentary activities and eating comfort foods. However, the best way to put a stop to winter weight gain is to combat its effects before it even begins.
Try these tips to stop winter weight gain in its tracks:
Work out indoors. It’s important to get moving and exercise each and every day throughout the fall and winter. That’s why Fighting Fit Boot Camps are perfect for preventing winter weight gain. We workout both indoors and outside, but on the coldest days we keep our workouts entirely inside.
- Take a few minutes out of your morning to exercise (for example, by doing our early morning Round Rock boot camps). Feel free to take the weekends off, but if that’s when you have less restraint with your eating habits, take two days off midweek and exercise weekend mornings.
- Make it a couple’s event. We’ve noticed that couples who exercise together at Fighting Fit Boot Camp Austin get great results. It’s fun, and a perfect way for couples to spend quality time together every day.
Make meals ahead of time. When the weather is dreary, your desire to cook can vanish. This causes you to reach for the phone and dial the pizza place or Chinese restaurant for delivery. Instead, if you have healthy precooked meals in the fridge, you’ll naturally eat healthier and save money, too!
- On a Sunday afternoon, take the time to prepare two or three meals and freeze them. Make vegetable soup, whole-wheat spaghetti and meatballs, or your favorite healthy casserole and tuck it away in the freezer. Before work, simply let the container defrost and pop onto the stove as soon as you get home.
- If you’re not in a cooking mood, plan several meals for the week and, at the very minimum, group your ingredients together to save a bit of time.
Stock healthy snacks. Snacking is inevitable, especially when you’re stuck indoors, evening after evening. You might as well prepare for your snack cravings and stock up on healthy and satisfying snacks.
- Stock up on fresh fruits and raw nuts! Though some fruits are high in calories and raw nuts are high in fat, the quality of these calories means you can enjoy them without guilt. And, they are higher in fiber, vitamins, and minerals than junk foods.
- A serving of apple pie generally contains approximately 300 calories. This is just approximately 50 to 100 calories more than you would consume eating a Kit Kat bar, Reese’s peanut butter cups, or 6 Oreo cookies. So, save the pie for your “cheat day” and stick with the fresh fruit and veggies during the rest of the week.
Eat Holiday foods in moderation. Yes, your family is consuming heaps of eggnog, turkey, and potato salad, but if you’re trying to ward off the winter weight gain, resist eating like it’s your last supper.
- Have a tall glass of water before your big holiday meals and load your plates with vegetables, lean meats, and a small amount of fatty foods. Wait 20 minutes after your first plate. If you’re still hungry, reach for a second plate.
- If you’re hosting a holiday dinner, take charge and prepare calorie conscious meals. Rather than baking a ham for Christmas dinner, make lemon herb turkey. Rather than using mayonnaise in your potato salad, go for an Italian potato salad with vinaigrette as the binding ingredient. Simply by cooking healthier recipes, you can avoid a lot of the excess calories you’d normally eat during a holiday meal (hint – don’t tell anyone it’s healthy – they probably won’t notice!)
In reality, all it takes to combat winter weight gain is planning, attention to detail, and some indoor workouts to keep you fit. By keeping these tips in mind this winter, you’ll be beach-ready long before spring break arrives!
Are you wondering if doing a boot camp workout is worth it for you? Are you concerned that it’s too expensive? Worried that you’ll stand out as the one unfit person in a class full of muscular, fit bodies?
You’ll be pleased to know that doing a Fighting Fit Boot Camp workout isn’t as intimidating as you might think!
These classes can both motivate you and provide you with effective tools to help you create the body you desire. In addition, there are other important benefits that you can get from your Fighting Fit Boot Camp membership, including greater physical fitness, increased self-confidence, a more exciting social life, and fun!
Benefit #1: Improved Physical Fitness
The most obvious and noticeable benefit of doing Fighting Fit Boot Camps in Austin is the improvement you see in the mirror. If you stick to our sensible workout plan and attend at least three classes a week, your arms, legs, and abs will look more toned in a few short weeks.
You’ll be also able to run longer distances without becoming short of breath. Plus, you’ll have more stamina and physical strength to tackle the stresses of everyday life.
Benefit #2: Increased Self-Confidence
Beginning a workout routine in the gym can be overwhelming. It’s hard to know where to begin or what to do, and this can be daunting for people who are new to fitness.
Not so with Fighting Fit Boot Camps. Every workout is different, yet tailored to the needs of the average adult who wants to get in shape. No need to think about what you’re going to do to get in shape – just show up and sweat.
And the more you work out, the better you’ll feel about attending Fighting Fit Boot Camps. Instead of dreading your workout, you’ll actually crave it (as crazy as it sounds!). Instead of pain, you’ll feel exhilaration as you look forward to your next trip to the studio.
As your physique improves, your self-image will become more and more positive. You’ll feel more comfortable with your body and less nervous about being around others as well. I’ve seen it happen many times with our clients – the workouts work!
Benefit #3: A Better Social Life
As you look in the mirror and see the progress you’re making, you’ll also feel more attractive and eager to partake in social activities. If you’re shy because of your looks, your improved physical fitness and self-confidence will help you overcome your shyness.
You’ll be able to connect more confidently with others you find interesting. It’ll be easier to start conversations with strangers who might become lifelong friends. Your physical appearance will support your social goals, rather than standing as an obstacle in the way of your social life.
Benefit #4: Fun!
Doing a boot camp workout is a surefire antidote to boredom. A Fighting Fit Boot Camp gives you access to state-of-the-art exercise regimens that will allow you to reach your fitness goals. The progress you experience will motivate you to continue working out instead of sitting on the couch and on the sidelines.
And, we always vary your workouts to keep things fresh. Your workout will always be new and exciting every time you come in. Varying your workouts challenges your body in different ways, also, which increases the effectiveness of your workout.
As you can see, Fighting Fit Boot Camps affect much more than your physical appearance. Working out regularly at a gym can help you to create the physical body you deserve, while increasing your self-confidence. Your social life will improve, and you’ll experience a lot more fun in your workouts and in your life. So what are you waiting for? Why not give a Fighting Fit Boot Camp in Austin a try?
Try Our Fitness Kickboxing Classes For FREE!

Are you looking for a way to get in shape, but haven’t found a form of exercise that can keep you interested and motivated? Is every type of exercise you’ve tried boring and mundane?
If so, fitness kickboxing may be right for you.
Here are six reasons why Fighting Fit Kickboxing may be the workout you’re looking for:
Build the body you desire. Fitness kickboxing is one of the fastest ways to improve your physical fitness and overall appearance. Fitness kickboxing will increase your cardiovascular fitness, physical stamina, and flexibility. Your agility will also improve through the punching and kicking drills of fitness kickboxing.
Your workouts will fly by. With most forms of exercise, you spend the entire workout thinking about how long you have left until it’s completed. With an hour-long class in fitness kickboxing, your workout is over before you know it. You hardly notice the time passing, but you’ll quickly notice the results in the mirror.
A fitness kickboxing class is a great way to tone your body and shed a few pounds. You’ll look forward to getting out the door for each class and you’ll enjoy the active lifestyle your mind and body crave.
Learn self-defense moves. In addition to toning your body, a properly instructed fitness kickboxing class teaches you moves you can use to defend yourself. And while most classes don’t actually teach the self-defense applications, if you ever do decide to take a self-defense class you’ll be a step ahead.
Increase your self-confidence. As your body becomes stronger, so will your self-image. As your skill and physical capabilities improve, you’ll begin to feel more confident. You’ll look forward to looking in the mirror each morning instead of dreading it, and meeting new people will become an exciting adventure.
Relieve your stress. Fitness kickboxing provide a tremendous outlet for frustration and stress. Besides releasing pent-up stress, when you’re focused on learning the skills and techniques in a class, you’ll keep your mind off of the bills you have to pay or the challenges of your workday.
The high-energy exercise, kickboxing combinations, and intense workouts provided by our fitness kickboxing classes are a perfect combination for anyone seeking an exciting way to get in shape.
