Frequently Asked Questions About Fighting Fit Boot Camp

Fighting Fit Boot Camp Austin TXQ: “Is there contact? Will I get hurt?”

A: No. The only contact in our kickboxing classes and boot camp is hitting pads and bags. Our self-defense classes do involve some contact (a necessary component of self-defense training). However, we teach with control and safety, so anyone can participate.

Q:What if I’m not in very good shape?”

A: That’s certainly a consideration, as many of our programs offer an intense workout. Of course, if you have any medical condition that may preclude participation in a fitness program, always check with your physician before starting classes.

At a bare minimum, you must be able to do push-ups, sit-ups, and run 1/4 of a mile before considering this program.

If you cannot perform these basic exercises, you should probably consider another program, as this is not the right program for you at this time.

And if you find those exercises to be a challenge, you might consider walking or joining a gym that offers 30-minute circuit workouts on hydraulic machines. Do this for several months until you work your way up to being able to do a Fighting Fit workout.

However, if you can do these basic exercises and you’re simply wondering if you can keep up, rest assured that we’ve had people of all fitness levels participate in our programs. Just pace yourself and ease into training. Sure, you’ll be sore for the first week or so, but so long as you work at your own pace you’ll be fine.

If you still have concerns, you should speak with one of our certified trainers to discuss your individual goals and needs before starting classes.

Q: “What equipment do I need to bring to class?”

A: You definitely need some MMA-style gloves, bag gloves, or boxing gloves for your kickboxing classes.

You may want to bring your gloves with you to boot camp classes as well, since we often do kickboxing pad drills as part of our cardio and interval training, but they aren’t necessary.

Definitely, bring water, a towel, and a yoga mat to all classes. You can always use a towel to do floor work (abs, etc.) on if you don’t want to buy a yoga mat.

Q: “Do you teach children?”

A: No, we do not offer children’s classes. If you are looking for martial arts training for children, there is actually a well-established traditional martial arts studio with an excellent reputation just a few doors down from us. Visit www.umaec.com for information on their programs.

Q: “Do you teach martial arts?”

A: No. We are a fitness studio, and we also offer a reality-based self-defense program. Martial arts is not our focus. Once again, if you are looking for traditional tae kwon do training, check out our neighbors at www.umaec.com.

Q: “How many times a week can I workout?”

A: It depends on the program. We have membership packages and programs to fit anyone’s workout goals and budget, including 2-day a week packages on up to unlimited training that includes one-on-one coaching and program design.

Whether you just want to workout a few days a week, or are interested in intensive group and personal training, we have you covered.

Q: “How much does it cost?”

A: Good question. Since our goal is to provide a personal training experience to every member, but without the personal training price, we’re sure you’ll find your membership here at Fighting Fit of Austin to be an exceptional value.

Your first class is always free, so we suggest you come in and try a class and then discuss the different membership programs available with one of our trainers.

Just to give you an idea though, we’re more than your local big-box gym membership (remember, we offer personalized fitness instruction) but quite competitive with other boot camp programs… with the added benefit of an extensive class schedule and full range of program offerings that you simply won’t find anywhere else.
